The club has a proud history of being a family based club with a friendly atmosphere and that couldn’t have been truer with the reception that Maxi received when he stepped off the jetty onto the beach!
As the island is not prone to rips and does not have surf the club focuses strongly on First Aid and Patrol and they are extremely skilled and excel in this area, so much so they are the current holders of the following awards;
It was long before Maxi was in the water with the nippers taking part in a board race or 2 and then the crowd were keen to watch Maxi carry out a board rescue of club member Meg to perfection!
The crowd then retreated to the beach to listen to Maxi talk of his own story of how he went from being a nipper in Sydney to the position of Bondi Lifeguard and then the members asked as many questions as they could think of!
Selfies, a few autographs, great BBQ and a raffle for club funds rounded out an amazing morning, we can’t thank Club President Lance Price, Des Kerr, Chris McGrath and all the committee at Coochie enough for making us so welcome……….
Maxi & I will forever remember our first SLSC visit, Coochie you are in our hearts, keep up the great work!
]]>Inspired by the surf and sea of our iconic Aussie beaches our Sunrise At Bondi range is not only fashion that functions but cares for the environment and contributes to saving it. Discarded fishing nets are a real problem in our oceans, one of our goals at Sunrise At Bondi is to play a part and help conserve the environment and our amazing beaches as much as we can.
Our Activewear and swimwear is actually manufactured from a new cutting edge sustainable techno-fabric that is 100% regenerated from post-consumer materials – so what does that mean to us? Waste from items such as fishing nets and old carpets are recovered from all over the globe and re-manufactured into premium quality recycled yarn, that is knitted into our fabrics and lovingly stitched in Australia into a garment for you.
So if you feel right at home at the beach wearing your SAB gear no wonder – it just might have been there before……
Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram or Tweet us about your part of the world that you want to protect….and don’t forget our hashtags #everybodyactive #sunriseatbondi #saveourbeaches
]]>Well, our vision is that as Sunrise At Bondi grows as an activewear label we all grow healthily with it, a little bit stronger and a little more active.........
............one sunrise at a time.
So that is all of us, you, your friends, family and Every Body in between. We welcome ALL of you to join us as we go on this journey to create a more active lifestyle, our goal being to live a long and healthy life.
It’s about having fun, being kind and taking care of your own health and well-being, you inspire us and we'll try our best to inspire you.
It doesn’t matter where you live, what school you go to, how you earn a living, what size you are, what runners you wear or how old you are, if you want to come and hang out with Sunrise At Bondi then our beach is open...…and you are most welcome.
We are all about the positive, it’s not about being the best but doing the best you can. It’s about having a go and giving it your best shot……….Winning is great, but it’s more important to take part……it’s an attitude.
So what are you waiting for..…attitude is a choice; make sure you choose a good one!
Maxi & Leigh
So Maxi rings Leigh to ask if we can quickly design some jammers for the Bondi Rescue Team for the swim……..you bet we can…….not only that, we designed kit for The Living Room team, Channel 10 News and Network Ten Teams.
A few swim trials later making sure the boys were happy with the fit and design and there they were, swimming as a team over to Rottnest Island and we were one proud label.
The superior quality fabric used to make the jammers, is a newly developed Eco-friendly fabric made from 100% regenerated yarn. Its high modulus properties offer muscle compression and support and we’ll tell you more about that in another post…….
Check out how our expert technical team brought the jammers to life........
So did Maxi, Hoppo, Jesse & Deano win? Well you will have to watch Bondi Rescue for that……..but in our eyes they were easily best dressed!

A few of the younger girls were so shocked they actually couldn’t believe that it really was Maxi….Leigh didn’t expect the shock and silence but after a warm up, a few laps and races everyone had a great time. Followed up by a good breakfast, T-shirt signings and photographs galore a fun day was had by all.
The day sparked many ideas for Maxi and Leigh for the future direction of Sunrise at Bondi and the importance of inspiring everyone to get active, and you can never start to young, our philosophy is that it is not about necessarily about being the best but just doing the best you can do, getting out there and having a go…….
Thanks to Confidential at Brisbane’s Courier Mail and the Redland City Bulletin for covering our story, we’ll be posting more behind the scenes shots from the photoshoot so keeping checking back in……….
Big thanks to the team at Brisbane News Magazine for interviewing Maxi and I for their 'Sum Of Us' segment and how Sunrise At Bondi came to be, take a read, we hope you like it! Leigh
